Camping Trips to Bendethera

This article covers a number of trips to Bendethera - a favoured destination for 4WD trips in NSW.

For Easter 2010 we will meet in Braidwood in time to set off at 10.30am on Friday April 2nd. A side trip to a local feature is done before the drive into Bendethera to set up a base camp.

On the Saturday, the adventure activity will be a visit to the caves, or a challenging 4WD circuit around the valley. This is for experienced drivers.

The Sunday will be the alternate activity and the drive out on the Monday towards Moruya will be via a little used fire trail bordering a declared wilderness area.

We also have single day trips from Braidwood which caters for a limited number of passengers in the lead vehicle and for tagalong full 4WD vehicles where drivers have previous experience with steep rocky fire trails.

A two or three day overnight camping trip will allow time to relax in this wonderful valley, take photos of the picturesque Deua River, or the kangaroos and wombats coming out to graze. Pit toilets and fireplaces are scattered throughout the cleared areas in the valley. For the more energetic, there may be time to walk to and explore the Bendethera Caves.

On longer stays, or as an alternative to the Bendethera Caves, a hard standard circular loop drive may be tackled (experienced drivers, full 4WD with recovery gear, radios etc) on one day.
