Tasmania - 4WD Destinations

We are planning another 4WD camping trip to Tasmania in December 2010.

The tentative dates to be in Tasmania are from Saturday December 4, 2010 until the following Saturday 11th.

There will be some 4WD through the Victorian High Country as we make our way from Sydney/Canberra to the ferry in Melbourne.

We will visit the Cradle Mountain region, camp along the rugged west coast, then travel down to the Lake Pedder region for at least one night.
We would then travel up the east coast, via Port Arthur before eating our way back to the ferry.

Victorian High Country

The Victorian High Country is a great place for touring with your 4WD.

There is a wide variety of experiences to be had from excellent camping besides mountain streams and rivers to steep climbs and descents on fire trails.

Many of the more interesting trails and camping destinations are closed for the winter months (generally from following the Queens Birthday weekend in June to perhaps early November) with the result that during the open period, many campsites are occupied.

4WDTrips will be running a number of tours in the High Country during 2010 to suit a range of experiences.

Are any extended 4WD trips planned

Any longer 4WD tours planned for 2010?

Yes - we have planned an extended trip for August 2010 to Birdsville, then west across the Simpson Desert before doing a big loop south to pick up The Great Ocean Road, some Victorian High Country before getting back to Sydney.

Other week long trips are planned for January 2010 to the back country and south coast of East Gippsland. (Experienced drivers).

February and March 2010 will offer week long trips in the high country of NSW and Victoria

December 2010 will feature a 3 stage trip departing Sydney/Canberra hence via the Victorian High Country to Melbourne. After 8 days in Tassie we will return to Sydney via a different route through Gippsland and the Snowy Mountains.
