Marble Arch

The Marble Arch is reached by foot and is beyond the Big Hole. The walk from the Big Hole is quite level until the end when it descends into the gorge formed by water eroding the limestone.

The Big Hole

The Big Hole is just that - these are the words that come to mind. Maybe a "bloxxx big hole" or similar.

The hole was formed a long time ago when the roof of an underground cave system collapsed forming the hole which measures some 45-50 metres in diameter and about 90 metres deep.

Monga National Park

The Monga National Park has an area of some 26,500 hectares and is a relatively recent Park, being created in 2001 after a community lead rally to prevent further areas from logging. The Monga has a great variety of vegetation as it extends from the top of the escarpment and to the east where the rainfall is considerably higher.

Deua National Park

The Deua National Park has an irregular boundary but extends some 40 km to the south of the Araluen to Moruya Road. It is some 25km wide in places. Well known destinations include The Big Hole, Marble Arch, Bendethera and a number of caves. Some challenging 4WD fire trails make this a great adventure.
