Monga Rain Forest Panorama

A walk amongst tree ferns and large Plumwood trees, unique mosses and lichen is a highlight of our tour.
4WD Tour thru ferns of Monga

Tree ferns are a feature of the Monga.
Our 4WD tours of the Monga will encounter
several locations like this.

Monga Waratah in flower

The unique Monga Waratah in flower.
Our 4WD tours pass several locations
where you can study these flowers in detail
(flowering season approx late Oct- mid December).

The Monga National Park lies to the east of Braidwood and Reidsdale. The western side starts on the edge of the tablelands and takes in parts of the escarpment.

The main entrance to the park is from the Kings Highway about 20km east of Braidwood, but our 4WD tours enter from Reidsdale.

We will take a stroll through a fascinating rain forest where giant Plumwood trees tower over some interesting tree ferns, mosses and lichen. Some of these Dawsonia mosses are the tallest in the world.

A nearby stroll down to the crystal clear waters of the Mongarlowe River may (flowers late Oct - mid Dec) show the rare Monga Waratah flower.

Our "easy" 4WD tours involve trails which shows off many fern gullies and tall forest trees.

Our "harder" 4WD tour involves an additional loop where the trail is less travelled but takes us up and along a high ridge bordering on the Buckenbowra Wilderness Area in the eastern half of the Monga. This 4WD tour thus covers the greatest range of vegetation and weather conditions.
