Bendethera is perhaps the pick of all 4WD camping destinations in SE NSW.
It is a pretty cleared valley in the heart of the Deua National Park with the crystal clear waters of the Deua River offering an ideal camping ground.
The valley was settled in the 1860s and remains of the historic homestead site are well sign posted.
Our route to Bendethera is from the Braidwood - Cooma road and takes in the Dampier Fire Trail and Trig station. The steep descent is best suited to proper 4WD (low range needed for engine braking).
A range of wildlife including kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, lizards and lyre birds are usually seen (and heard).
Our "Bendethera Sortie" tour is a day trip in and out of Bendethera, not reccommended for novice 4WD drivers. No doubt that it will inspire visitors to plan a more extended camping trip to the valley.
For the extended tours to Bendethera, there may be time to explore the Bendethera caves.
